GETTING
SETTLED ON CAMPUS
| ATM Machines | A
few doors down from the CVS drug store there are number of ATMs at Bank
of America . There are others at Cambridge
Trust, next to Au Bon Pain in the Holyoke Center
on
Massachusetts
Avenue and at the Wainwright Bank on Brattle Street. There is also Citibank, Sovereign and Citizens Bank in
the Harvard Square area. |
| Books | The Harvard Coop Bookstore
is directly opposite the Harvard Square “T” station; (the “Coop” sells
some
student items as well as books). The Harvard Bookstore at 1256
Massachusetts
Avenue is a bit further. Globe Corner Bookstore is specializing
in world travel
books and maps, is directly across from the Border Café. Schoenhof's is at 76A Mt. Auburn St.
and specializes in foreign books. |
| Copying | Gnomon
is at 99 Mt Auburn and 1304 Mass.
Ave. Kinko's is open 24 hours and
is located at the corner of Mifflin Place and Mt. Auburn Street. You may also use these companies for
your faxing needs. |
| Dentist | For
emergency dental needs, call 1-800-577-7329 and they will refer you to
a local dentist. |
| Groceries | The
nearest supermarkets, Star Market, are in Porter Square and on
Mt. Auburn
Street. Porter Square is seven blocks north of campus on Massachusetts Avenue (15 minute walk). In Harvard Square there is a C'est Bon
Convenience
store for occasional items. |
| Hospital | Mount
Auburn Hospital, 330 Mount Auburn Street, is about three minutes
away by car or
cab. |
| Laundry | You
will find
a coin operated washer and dryer in the basement of your dormitory building. |
| Movies | The
Brattle Theater, 40 Brattle Street, features many foreign films as
well as
revivals of American classics. Harvard Square Theater, 10
Church Street, just
up the block from the Border Cafe, is a multiplex theater for
first-run, major
studio films. |
| Newspapers | You
can find newspapers from around the nation and the world at the
Out-of-Town
News kiosk adjacent to the Harvard Square MBTA (“T”) Station entrance. |
| Parking | Except
for handicapped drivers, there is extremely limited parking available
on campus. You will receive your parking permit at the check-in
if you requested so. |
| Pets | Pets are not permitted in guest rooms. |
| Pharmacy | The CVS
(very big, 2 floors) is on Massachusetts Avenue on
Harvard
Square, about 10-minute walk from campus. |
| Post Office |
The U.S.
Post Office is located at 125 Mt. Auburn Street. |
| Smoking | Smoking
is strictly prohibited in all Lesley University buildings, including the dormitory rooms. |
| Telephones | Public pay phones are in several places throughout Lesly campus. |
